ctd architects were instructed by a returning client to undertake a design and feasibility study for a long term empty site within close proximity to Leek Town Centre. The proposed scheme of 27 one and two bedroom apartments, within two residential apartment blocks sits within close proximity to a number of historic, listed and a number of more contemporary buildings. The challenging context of the site required the design team to propose a building that is fit for its context within the conservation area as well as meeting the needs and desires of potential future occupants.
Whilst only an outline application early discussions with the client identified the need for a highly detailed scheme which addressed many potential stumbling blocks and assists with a smoother planning application process. The schemes design has been commended for its use of a difficult and irregular shaped site.
