Ed reaches career milestone with full qualification
Ed Daniels, who has worked at ctd architects since 2018, has become a fully qualified architect on completion of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Advanced Diploma in Professional Practice in Architecture, also known as Part 3.
Ed started at ctd architects on his RIBA Stage 1 practical experience in July 2018, as a graduate from the University of Sheffield. He was then employed as an architectural assistant in June 2019.
This registration caps a decade-long journey, which began in 2014 with Ed’s studies at The University of Sheffield, where he gained a Master’s in Structural Engineering and Part 1 Architecture. Following the practical experience at ctd architects, he went on to complete a part-time, office-based RIBA Part 2 Diploma at Oxford Brookes University over a four-year period.
Ed Daniels said: “I am very proud to become a fully qualified an architect. I remember a lecturer saying the Part 3 milestone is a gateway into the architectural profession, and I now feel genuinely excited about the journey ahead.
“I am looking forward to the chance to work more autonomously, engage directly with clients, and manage projects that meaningfully shape the built environment and people’s daily experiences. I am especially passionate about designing spaces that integrate seamlessly into users’ lives, often unnoticed yet profoundly impactful.
“I am immensely grateful to everyone at ctd architects. Their mentorship, and guidance, and continuous support has played a huge role in shaping me into the architect I am today.
“Balancing my studies with full-time work provided invaluable experience, though the pandemic shifted the course entirely online, altering my learning experience.
“My family, mentors, and my girlfriend were invaluable supports throughout this journey, from providing encouragement to proof-reading. Special thanks also go to my Part 2 tutors Ranald Lawrence and Steve Bowkett for their guidance and motivation.”
Patrick Redmond, director at ctd architects said: “It has been a pleasure to witness Ed’s development from graduate to fully qualified architect. Staying motivated over a decade of studies and professional pressures requires resilience, but Ed has risen to each challenge to become an asset to our practice. I have no doubt he will go on to achieve great things as an architect.”
Looking to the future, Ed is eager to continue my professional development. He said: “I will subscribe to the RIBA and expand my expertise in sustainable design through sustainability certifications like BREEAM or LEED. These steps will deepen my skills, broaden my design perspective and allow me to bring new insights and value to the work I do, wherever my career takes me.”
