Johnsons Wharf residential development in Stoke on Trent
We’re revisiting a project from 2015 with new photography as the residential development for Avant Homes at Johnsons Wharf, is near to completion. The scheme forms a key part of the City Waterside regeneration programme and is steeped in history, including the conservation of two Grade II listed bottle ovens and fronts on to the Trent and Mersey canal.
The form of the 241 dwellings (144 houses & 97 apartments) create terraced streets reminiscent of the local typology, comprising of 5 house types and specific apartments of differing appearance and heights to add variety and character to the scheme, whilst maintaining a harmonious “whole”. Homezone shared play areas and car parking spaces are formed through the design of the dwelling layouts to create a high quality safe area where communities can build and thrive.
The Johnsons Wharf development provides a key contribution and is pivotal in driving the regeneration of ‘Hanley South’, the dwellings have been designed to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3.
