Thought to be the first purpose built silk manufactory in Leek, Albion Mill, the buildings suffered ad-hoc conversions in the late 1980’s and were lain vacant for five years before the restoration and conversion of the Grade II Listed Mills to form residential dwellings.
An enthusiasm to employ high quality design and to deliver a high standard of development through design of the external fabric and landscaping whilst respecting and maintaining the heritage value of the industrial mills. Brickwork has been cleaned and re-pointed and new timber sash and metal windows fitted, with new dwelling door openings, recessed to appear secondary to the original main entrance.
The conversion succeeded in developing a new house model for the town centre providing modern living through open plan living spaces complemented by a contemporary approach to the design of interiors and external areas.
