New Swimming Pool Opened By Olympic Swimming Star Adam Peaty

A new swimming pool at Sandon Primary Academy in Stoke on Trent, designed by ctd architects and constructed in partnership with Sneyd Building Contractors, was recently opened by Olympic and World Champion swimming star, Adam Peaty.

The new 15 metre pool will enable the pupils, aged between 2 and 11 to have weekly swimming lessons. The  ambition is for all pupils to be able to swim before they leave. The pool will also be offered to the local community for free swimming lessons and be available for other schools to use as well.

Principal Rachel Beckett said: “It’s stunning. The children have enjoyed watching it being built. “We will be starting the swimming lessons inside it on Monday. We are using a private provider, Water Stars.”

Although Sandon’s pool is mainly for the school’s own use, free swimming classes will be offered to the local community. Other schools could also have access to the facilities.
