Johnson’s Wharf is a former ceramic manufacturing site redeveloped for a high quality residential scheme comprising of 241 No. Dwellings (144 houses & 97 apartments) and a ‘pocket park’ focussed around the conserved Grade II Listed bottle ovens and fronting on to the Trent and Mersey Canal.
The form of the dwellings create terraced streets reminiscent of the local typology, comprising of 5 house types and specific apartments of differing appearance and heights to add variety and character to the scheme, whilst maintaining a harmonious “whole”. Homezone shared play areas and car parking spaces are formed through the design of the dwelling layouts to create a high quality safe area where communities can build and thrive.
The development has provided a key contribution and is pivotal in driving the regeneration of ‘Hanley South’, the dwellings have been designed to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3.
