St. James Church
Client : PCC St.James / Diocese of Lichfield | Location : Newchapel, Stoke-on-Trent | Value : £540k
A purpose built ‘community hub’ to provide additional and much needed facilities to the adjacent church.
In tandem with the Parochial Church Council’s (PCC) self-fundraising and continuing support of the Diocese of Lichfield, the complex has been completed in 3 construction phases over a period of 11 years following a complex planning process.
The ‘HUB’ offers a large adaptable function space which can be subdivided to facilitate the various activities/functions that the church provides or accommodates. A full commercial catering kitchen supports the function space and its multiple uses from weddings to toddler groups. Dedicated toilet provisions are accessed via an external fully glazed cloister which provides a secure enclosed walkway linking the rear access of the church to the hub. An external paved courtyard is formed through the buildings footprint and creates a continuation of the function room through its series of large fully glazed doors.
